On this month's cover: A fleet of Liebherr T 282 B mining trucks has been operating at a mine in Indonesia since 2005, displaying consistent reliability and minimal downtime with an overall availability averaging 92%. The T 282 B trucks require less maintenance due to their AC drive system, which minimises downtime and ensures consistent operating performance over conventional DC and mechanical drive trucks. The trucks are also equipped with the powerful MTU DD 20V4000 (2722 kW), providing one of the best power-to-weight ratios available in the mining truck market today.

Starting in April 2008 until the end of March 2009, Shenhua Energy’s Joy shearer had mined 10,269,915 t (11.3 million short t). It is the largest and most powerful longwall shearer that went into production at one of the world’s largest coal mining complexes, Shenhua Energy Co.
