World Coal,
Vostochnaya Mining Company began assembling high-rise elevated sections of the main conveyor connecting the Solntsevsky coal mine with the Shakhtersk coal seaport. The total length of the facility will be 23 km. The project is part of the Green Coal Cluster and is aimed at reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere in the Uglegorsk District of the Sakhalin Region.
In accordance with the project, the elevated sections of the conveyor will cross 20 water barriers, 33 highways, and 26 power lines. At the moment, the builders are erecting the first spans with a height of 15 m. Sections of metal structures are made of galvanised steel and each weighs about 10 t. The total number of high-rise overhead spans will be about 50 units, each up to 20 m long. At the same time, the maximum height of the above-ground sections will reach 24 m.
The enlarged assembly of the coal conveyor sections is carried out on a specially equipped site. The assembled structures are checked by the quality control service and delivered to the installation site. To comply with technical regulations and control the assembly of structures, the facility is supervised by specialists from the French company RBL-REI SA, which specialises in the development and supply of conveyor systems. In parallel, at all sections of the conveyor, work is underway on the installation of ground structures, the arrangement of foundations and the road.
The production capacity of coal transportation on the main conveyor will be 4000 tph. The main conveyor will allow to avoid the use of road transport for transporting coal and to carry out logistics in an environmentally friendly and globally recognised way. The entire length of the conveyor line will be covered with protective screens to prevent dust during transportation. The noise impact of the operating conveyor will be minimised by installing screens and covering the operating systems and mechanisms.
The construction of a coal main conveyor is included in the list of priority projects in the Sakhalin Region. The volume of coal transportation from the opencast mine to the port will double, and in the future will reach 20 million tpy. The increase in productivity will affect the increase in tax payments and will positively affect the level of development of the socio-economic situation in the region. The implementation of the facility will create additional jobs in the Uglegorsk region.
The construction of the main conveyor is being implemented by the Eastern Mining Company under the FPV regime, which applies to the Uglegorsk region. According to preliminary data, the total investment in the project will amount to over RUB 7 billion.
