MetRes and M Mining appoint General Manager

MetRes and M Mining have announced the appointment of Dan Yates, effective from 24 May 2021, as General Manager – Operations for M Mining Pty Ltd and Senior Site Executive for the Millennium mine, upon completion of the sales and purchase agreement from Peabody.
Yates has over 25 years of industry experience and has worked in a range of operational and leadership roles for global miners including Rio Tinto and Anglo American. Yates was previously Group Manager of Health, Safety, Environment, and Training for Idemitsu Resources Australia and is a Director of the Fitzroy Basin Association.
Yates has led project development teams to secure approval and development of mine resources, implementation of business risk strategies and systems, development and implementation of Health, Safety, Environment, Community, and Training systems and project delivery of external regulatory consents.
He is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds degrees and an Executive Masters in Business from QUT and a Graduate Diploma in Health & Safety Management from the University of South Australia. Yates also holds a current coal mining Senior Site Executive competency certificate.
MetRes Chairman and Director, and Owner of M Mining, Matt Latimore, said: “This appointment highlights the importance of health, safety, environment and training to M Mining. We are delighted to appoint an Executive with Dan’s leadership and operational experience to deliver the Millennium Mavis Mine back into production in a timely and cost-effective manner.”
