Thiess announces CEO change

Thiess CEO, Douglas Thompson, has announced he is stepping away from his role.
“After 15 years with Thiess, and with the company positioned for a strong future, it is time for me to step aside for someone to lead us through the next exciting chapter in a changing industry, and for me to pursue new opportunities,” Thompson said.
Executive Chairman of Thiess, Michael Wright, takes up the role as Thiess’ CEO from 16 July 2021.
Michael is a former Managing Director of Thiess and CEO of CIMIC Group, and has a strong and deep understanding of the business, its people and clients. He is a highly regarded and innovative leader, focused on delivering value to clients and inspiring operational excellence by building strong, safe and performance-driven teams.
“I’m both privileged and honoured to be appointed CEO of Thiess, in addition to my current role of Executive Chairman,” Wright commented.
“I’ve been a part of this great organisation since joining in 1998, and my passion for Thiess and our people has been enduring. With our new shareholders fully committed to an exciting future, our team has an incredible opportunity to take Thiess into a new era.”
Thopson and Wright are working closely together to ensure a seamless leadership transition that will provide certainty and continuity for the Thiess team and clients.
