World Coal,
Vale produced 2 million t of coal in 2Q15, according to the mining company’s latest production report, 8.9% lower than the same period in 2014.
In Mozambique, the company remains constrained by logistics bottlenecks, which are limiting the Moatize’s mine production. This should ease from 3Q15 when the revamped sections of the Nacala logistics corridor come online. The company has already completed the greenfield sections of the corridor and the port expansion at Nacala-a-Velha.
2Q15 production was 1.27 million t at Moatize, 116 000 t higher than the previous quarter.
In Australia, the Carborough Downs mines produced 742 000 t – the best production for a second quarter and 37.3% higher than the previous quarter. The Integra and Isaac Plains mines were placed into care and maintenance last year.
