Glencore statement on Glendell Continued Operations Project referral

Glencore has advanced to the next stage in the New South Wales approval process for its Glendell Continued Operations Project following recommendation from the New South Wales Department of Planning, Industry and the Environment (DPIE) that the project should proceed.
A final determination on the project will now be made by the New South Wales Independent Planning Commission (IPC) following its assessment process that will include a public hearing. A date for this hearing is yet to be set.
The Glendell project proposes to continue mining for a further 21 years beyond current approvals. This will:
- Provide employment opportunities for up to 690 personnel and create a further 350 construction jobs.
- Maintain support of more than 380 businesses, with whom Glendell spent almost AUS$120 million in 2020.
- Add AUS$282 million in royalties (in net present value terms) that help the New South Wales government continue to pay the wages of nurses, teachers and police, and to build much-needed infrastructure.
Glencore has invested more than AUS$15 million in developing the project, and over the past five years it has engaged with a wide range of stakeholders on different aspects of the project including Singleton Council, government agencies, Registered Aboriginal Parties, near neighbours, and the communities of Singleton and Broke.
