Jastrzebska Spólka Weglowa (JSW) has joined the group of science institutions as a representative of the mining and coke sector in the work in the Polish Committee for Standardization. The company has become a member of Technical Committees closely related to the area of JSW Group’s operations.

The activities carried out in the Polish Committee for Standardization focus mainly on developing and implementing the standards for testing product quality, which are used by laboratories to make measurements.

“Participation in the work of the Polish Committee for Standardization is extremely important and prestigious for our company. The JSW Group is one of the largest producers of coal, coke and hydrocarbons in Europe and our products are sold to many diverse clients, both in Poland and in Europe,” explained Aleksandra Burczyk, Director of the Quality Department at JSW.

“The market environment, in which we operate, requires that the JSW Group place great emphasis on ensuring appropriate quality of our products, which can be confirmed by laboratory tests,” added Burczyk.

Since January 2020, JSW has operated a Quality Department with a team of experts focusing on the quality of, among others, hard coal, coke and products of the coking process, including hydrocarbons. Its employees having practical and substantive knowledge were seconded to work for the specific Technical Committees of the Polish Committee for Standardization.

“Our company has become a member of the Technical Committees for natural solid fuels, for coke and processed solid fuels, and for hydrocarbons and refined coal products,” commented Burczyk.
