World Coal,
Nine Turkish coal miners have been rescues following a mine collapse, say reports in the local media. The incident occurred in the coal-rich Zonguldak Province in the north of the country and comes only months after the Soma mine disaster killed over 300 coal miners.
The Anodolu news agency quoted the governor of Zonguldak, Ali Kaban, as saying the mine collapse occurred at 3AM but emergency services were only alerted some hours later when the father of one of the trapped miners reported the accident at the local police station.
