The African Mining Indaba has announced that Christopher Fordham, managing director of Europmoney Institutional Investor, will interview Tony Blair, former prime minister of the UK, at the keynote session of next year’s conference. The 2015 Indaba will take place on 9 – 12 February 2015 in Cape Town, South Africa.
“Tony Blair has vast experience as a global leader and through the charity he founded in 2008, the Africa Governance Initiative, he has worked with African governments to improve regulation and investment oversight,” said Jonathan Moore, managing director of the Mining Indaba. “As a result, he will provide unique and charismatic insights to our global delegation who are vested in capitalising African mining.” Tony Blair was prime minister of the UK from 1997 – 2007.
The 2015 Mining Indaba is expected to draw more than 7000 investors, mining corporates, government leaders, global press, and other industry stakeholders from 110 countries.
In addition to the keynote interview, speakers at next year’s show include Robert Friedland of Ivanhoe Mines, global economist, D. Dambisa Moyo, creator of the acronym BRIC, Jim O’Neill, and the World Bank’s Group emerging regions expert, Anita Marangoly George.
