Cerrejón produced 23.4 million t of coal in 2021, representing an increase of 89% compared to 2020. This result was achieved as a result of the effort and dedication of more than 11 000 employees, between employees and contractors, who are part of the Cerrejón team.

“2021 was a year of recovery, in which the priority was the health and safety of our employees. 2022 began with the acquisition of Cerrejón by Glencore, which represents a demonstration of trust in us and in the country. We are proud to be part of this group that shares our commitment to health and safety and to developing the operation in a sustainable manner with the environment and the communities,” said Claudia Bejarano, President of Cerrejón.

“Thanks to the drive and empowerment of our entire team, we were able to recover the rhythm of our operation and quickly adapt to the surrounding situations to achieve this level of production. This allowed us to continue contributing to the economy, employability and development of the region and the country,” concluded Bejarano.

During 2022, the company will continue working to carry out its operations in a safe and healthy manner, in a responsible manner with the environment and communities, respecting human rights and promoting employability and the economy of the region and the country and aligned with the strategy of climate change of Glencore, according to the agreements of Par-is.
