VIDEO: Testimonials from Coal Prep 2014 – McLanahan

At the 31st International Coal Preparation Conference & Expo, Bruce and Brad from McLanahan discussed some of the mining equipment offered by the company that was on show at the Kentucky-based event.

The McLanahan team discussed one of the company’s two roll sizers, part of a mobile crushing station, which crush coal down to about 2 in.  after a primary crush.  “It reduces the size of the coal, allowing it to be processed and used as a fuel source,” Bruce explained. 

Noting the current challenges faced by the coal preparation industry – both worldwide and in the US – the McLanahan team explained that these challenges were often similar in different regions. “For example, in Australia we had a government that introduced a carbon tax that has been detrimental to all resource industries,” Brad said.

Bruce concurred, “I think Australia is very much like the US, in the fact that we have a certain fraction of people here [in the US] who are really driving the green side of things and trying to eliminate all carbon fuels. It’s therefore a challenge to turn this mentality around and to make them believe that eliminating [fossil fuel] industries all together is just the wrong thing to do.”
