Coal beneficiation process to focus on India

Environmental Clean Technologies intends to focus demonstration efforts of its Coldry technology in India, after a grant was rejected under the Australian Advanced Lignite Demonstration Program (ALDP).

The Coldry beneficiation process, when applied to lignite and some sub-bituminous coals, produces a black coal equivalent in the form of pellets. Coldry pellets have equal or greater energy value to many black coals, and significantly producer lower carbon dioxide emissions than raw lignite.

Although the company’s technology was considered to be viable, funding was not granted based on the requirement for necessary additional rail and port infrastructure investments.

Environmental Clean Technologies plans to develop projects in Australia and across the globe, following successful demonstration of the technology in India.

The Coldry technology has applications for thermal coal export, and predrying solutions for upgrading high moisture coals to electrical energy and fuels.
