Hume Coal has increased its public consultation on the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) following its community consultation meetings held in late 2015.
The company held all of its scheduled six public consultation meetings providing valuable feedback on the company’s plans to create a low impact underground mine creating 300 full time jobs in the local area.
Project Director, Greig Duncan said that those meetings raised a number of issues that informed the numerous two-year scientific studies forming part of the EIS process.
“Since then, Hume Coal has continued to consult with groups and individuals who have provided valuable insight to the EIS process. The Battle for Berrima is just one group, and does not represent the entire community”.
At the last community information session in Moss Vale, members from the Battle for Berrima, asked if they could nominate two representatives to meet with Hume Coal. Hume Coal has stated that since then there have been no nominations forthcoming.
