M Mining Pty Ltd has announced that it has executed an agreement with Coal Augering Services (CAS) for the provision of coal auger mining services at the Mavis Downs and Millennium metallurgical coal mine, due to recommence operations in July 2021.

CAS is a respected contractor with close to 20-years operational experience in providing turnkey high productivity contract auger mining services, enabling safe and economic access to coal reserves which are otherwise inaccessible. This will be the fourth time that CAS has augered at Mavis Downs and Millennium and this experience will help fast track M Mining’s production schedule.

The agreement with CAS will conclude once successful mining of all safe and economic mine areas has been completed.

“The agreement with CAS provides a low-cost, competitive mining option with no need to strip overburden and no capital outlay. The scheduled auger production over the next 12-months provides us with baseload coal tonnage and will provide significant operating cashflows to support the transition to underground mining in mid-2022,” said Bret Leisemann, Manager Director of CAS. “We’re delighted to support the fast restart of Millennium Mine and to assist with deriving early value from this coal resource. We are proud to support Queensland’s newest producer in the metallurgical coal industry.”

Completion of the sale transaction is progressing, with settlement to occur in June 2021.
