In 2016, SUEK production facilities produced 105.4 million t of coal, representing an 8% increase year-on-year. Sales volumes in the twelve months of 2016 increased by 2% compared to 2015, amounting to a total of 103.1 million t of coal.
Sales to Russian customers amounted to 51.2 million t of coal, 39.5 million t of which were delivered to electric power plants. The 6% year-on-year sales decline was mainly due to lower coal consumption by power plants as high water levels in Siberia and the Russian Far East supported higher output at hydroelectric power plants. International sales grew by 11% year-on-year to 51.9 million t of coal. SUEK’s key export markets include China, South Korea, Japan, the Netherlands, Taiwan, India, Germany, Turkey and Poland.
