World Coal,
Vostochnaya Mining Co. has produced 1 million t of coal since the beginning of the year at the Solntsevsky coal mine, a key production asset located in the Uglegorsk region. The average daily production level in January – February amounted to 26 000 t. In accordance with the production plan, the maximum monthly figure will be reached in mid-2021 and will exceed 1 million t.
“This year we have much more tasks than the previous one. It's not just about the production targets that we intend to meet. In parallel with the production, we are preparing the opencast for integration into a single production complex of the VGK. This is due to the construction of the main coal conveyor, which will connect the main production sites – the Solntsevsky coal mine and the Shakhtersk coal seaport,” commented Alexey Sharabarin, Director of the Solntsevsky coal mine.
The company is going through important transformational changes in production and management decisions: the active introduction of digitalisation of technological operations, the transition to a new strategy of operational efficiency, the successful start of the general corporate programme ‘Total Production Optimisation’, the expansion of the fleet of modern equipment, an increase in the number of employees, and entry into new markets.
At the first stage of introducing digitalisation, the productivity of excavators increased by 6% and the cargo turnover of dump trucks by 7.5%. To improve the efficiency of production, a programme of geomechanical assessment and hydrogeology is being implemented, with the help of which the formation of reservoirs and the movement of groundwater are evaluated. The company also plans to conduct geological exploration in the areas adjacent to the section for further development of the Solntsevskoye field.
Thanks to the introduction of innovations, the company will be able to reach a new level of efficiency, which will allow mining up to 20 million tpy of coal. The geological reserves of the Solntsevsky coal mine exceed 300 million t of coal.
