Employees of the Eastern Mining Co. have completed training under the programme of requirements of international environmental standards. Solntsevsky Coal Mine will implement an environmental management system to reduce its environmental impact.
“Each division will identify environmental aspects in its activities and develop measures to reduce or possibly eliminate environmental impact,” said Elena Koltina, Chief Ecologist of the Eastern Mining Co.
The environmental management system implies a conscious approach to even the smallest impact on the environment. For example, in a warehouse, goods are received daily. When they are received, the packaging is removed, which later accumulates as part of municipal solid waste. Therefore, the company introduces separate accumulation of waste paper. Secondary raw materials will be transferred for processing. This will not only reduce the impact on the soil, but also introduce a culture of sustainable resource use.
The introduction of an environmental management system at the Solntsevsky coal mine will allow the company to be certified for compliance with the requirements of ISO 14001:2015 in the future.
