Anglo American extends contract with Hughes Drilling

World Coal,

Anglo American has extended its contract with Hughes Drilling for overburden drilling services at its Callide opencast coal mining operation located 20 km north-east of Biloela in Queensland, Australia.

With this extension, the contract for Hughes Drilling is valid until December 2015. The company will use existing plant and equipment.

The Callide mine produces low-sulfur, sub-bituminous thermal coal, primarily for supplies to domestic power generation in Queensland.

It has a production capacity of around eight million tpa.

Hughes Drilling said it will continue to work together with Anglo American Coal to promote the relationship benefiting both organisations.

Anglo awarded a contract to Hughes in September 2012 for blast hole production drilling services.
