World Coal,

US District Judge Brian Morris has given the Trump Administration until the end of 2019 to examine mining reductions in the country’s top coal producing regions, as a means of tackling climate change.

The order given by Judge Morris pertains to the Powder River Basin of Montana and Wyoming, which supplied approximately 40% of the country’s coal.

Additionally, 2015 plans by the US Bureau of Land Management to lease over 10 billion t of coal in the area are being challenged by environmentalists.

Al Nash, Spokesman for the Bureau of Land Management, stated that the agency is currently reviewing Judge Morris’ order.
