The company also received six Mountaineer Guardian Safety Awards for outstanding safety performance at the Eagle, Winchester and Speed underground mines, the South Hollow Point plant, Tom’s Fork loadout and Thunderhill opencast mine.

“We are pleased that these Patriot Coal operations are being recognised for strong safety performance and are honoured to receive these prestigious awards,” said Michael Day, Executive Vice President of Operations.

The Mountaineer Guardian Safety Awards are awarded each year by the West Virginia Coal Association to mining operations that demonstrate a strong commitment to safety.
