Paper submission deadline for WMC postponed

The abstract submission deadline for the 24th World Mining Congress (WMC) has been postponed until 30 November 2015, according to a press release from the organisers, the Brazilian Mining Association (IBRAM).
WMC 2016 will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 18 – 21 October 2016, and takes the theme: Mining in a World of Innovation. Abstract proposals should be submitted via the WMC website here.
The topics covered will include: mineral exploration; opencast and underground mining; mine economics; mining sustainability; mineral processing; automation and robotics; and mining innovation.
According to IBRAM, “the event will bring together an exhibition area, a space for technical paper presentation and a conference. The integration of senior executives, mining professionals, and scholars, as well as important Brazilian and international investors will enable an extensive exchange of information concerning the mining sector.”
The WMC is held every three years and is led by a secretariat associated to the UN. Its aim is to promote and support scientific and technical cooperation in the fields of mining the development of natural mineral resources.
The last WMC was held in Montreal, Canada, in 2013.
