Following a thorough evaluation of the Deer Run Mine atmosphere by Foresight, the Federal Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) and the State of Illinois Department of Natural Resources’ Office of Mines and Minerals (IDNR), MSHA and IDNR have approved Foresight Energy’s plan to reenter and restore power to a section of the Deer Run Mine.

This will give Foresight personnel the potential to evaluate the ventilation and longwall mining systems as well as the ability to locate any rehabilitation to underground facilities.

Mine personnel will carry on monitoring the air quality in accordance with sampling protocols that is require by the reentry plan.

The company is working with regulatory agencies with an aim of fully resuming mining operations at the mine.
