Trump proposes FY19 budget proposal for OSMRE

On 12 February, US President Donald Trump proposed a US$122 million fiscal year (FY) 2019 budget for the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE).
“The goal of this budget is to prioritise the services and the energy resources the American people need,” said Joe Balash, US Department of the Interior Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management. “It allows us to help develop our Nation’s resources, to continue to protect people and the environment, and to do so in the most efficient way possible.”
The President’s FY 2019 budget request supports the goal of American energy dominance. Coal mining will continue under a reasonable and appropriate regulatory structure and reclamation of abandoned mine lands will continue to achieve statutory and regulatory goals.
