Worker killed in collision at Elkview mine

According to a local newspaper, a 38 year old coal mine worker from Fernie (British Columbia) has been discovered dead after his pick-up truck collided with a fully-loaded dump truck yesterday morning in the Sparwood province.
The incident reportedly occurred at approximately 10:45 a.m. local time.
Elk valley Regional Detachment RCMP officers were alerted of a two vehicle crash at Teck Resources’ Elkview mine.
Upon their arrival at the scene, they learnt that the driver of the pick-up was fatally injured and did not survive the collision. The driver of the dump truck was reportedly not injured.
Police are continuing their investigations into the circumstances of the collision.
