Komatsu previewed the new D375Ai-8 dozer and 930E-5 mining haul truck at MINExpo 2016 in Las Vegas – and announced the North American commercial release of the PC4000-11 hydraulic mining shovel.

MINExpo 2016: Komatsu preview new dozer and haul truck

The D375Ai-8 mining-class dozer features intelligent machine control, including machine guidance and fully-integrated blade control available from the factory in 2017, as well as remote control option – also available from the factory in 2017.

“Operators are empowered with more data and more automated capabilities than ever before in a mining-class Komatsu dozer,” said Jason Anetsberger, Senior Product Manager, Komatsu America. “Extending the benefits demonstrated with intelligent dozers in the smaller construction-size classes to mining applications will mean bigger machines can produce even bigger results for our customers.”

The dozer also comes with structural enhancements for increased durability of mainframe and track frame, as well as 20% more horsepower in reverse than in previous models.

“Between the extra horsepower and the addition of intelligent machine control, this will be one of the most productive machines on the market,” said Joe Sollitt, Product Manager at Komatsu America.

Also previewed in Las Vegas, the 930E-5 haul truck includes a new Tier 4 Final engine that provides significant fuel consumption savings. The truck is scheduled for commercial availability in 2H17 and joins Komatsu’s popular 930 line of ultra-class trucks.

The truck features a 2700 hp, Tier 4 Final SSDA16V160-4 engine, which provides up to a 5% saving in fuel consumption with a 320 short t payload. The 930E-5 is a good match in large-scale mining applications with big bucket shovels such as Komatsu’ PC7000 and PC8000.

PC4000-11 North American release

MINExpo 2016 also marked the commercial release of the PC4000-11 hydraulic mining shovel in North America. Best suited to pair with 150 – 240 short t trucks, the PC4000-11 is powered by a Tier 4 Final 1875 hp. SDA16V160E-3 Komatsu engine and is available in both shovel or backhoe configuration.
