DNRME issues statement on tragic death of worker at Baralaba North coal mine

A team from the Queensland Mines Inspectorate (QMI) has commenced an investigation of an incident that tragically claimed the life of a worker at Baralaba North coal mine in the Bowen Basin on Sunday 7 July.
The Department's thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased and the Baralaba North coal mine workforce and community.
This is another tragic event for Queensland’s mining industry, bringing the total number of fatalities to six in the past 12 months.
The Department's focus continues to be on preventing further tragedies by investigating serious incidents and accidents, taking appropriate enforcement action, and sharing findings and recommendations with industry – to ensure the industry is equipped to meet their safety and health obligations to workers.
