Moranbah State School is striving to prepare its students for the jobs of the future by investing in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) teaching and learning resources.

As part of this, the school hopes to introduce an interactive TV in every classroom over the next three years to assist its 640 students interact and engage while learning. With six interactive TVs already in use, Stanmore Coal recently funded another to help the school reach its ultimate goal.

P&C Vice President Trysett le Garde said the interactive TVs will turn the mundane into the marvellous.

“Technology can make students active participants in their own education and give them the control to make things happen,” Trysett said.

“Projects can come alive when students search for and find research materials themselves, and maths concepts can become clearer when combined with a software game. The learning possibilities are endless.”

Principal Anthony Edwards said the teachers at Moranbah State School were also looking forward to engaging a wider variety of students using the interactive TVs, helping them to reach their full potential.

“We’re so proud of the progress and development of our school, and we want to see this continue as we prepare students for the ever-changing workforce they will encounter over the coming years,” Anthony said.

“The school is incredibly grateful for Stanmore’s contribution towards our STEM programme.”
