December 2012

The December issue of World Coal contains a lead feature on coal preparation, with a detailed look at centrifuges, dewatering, lubrication and dust control. A couple of excellent general interest articles examine coal reserves and review the 29th International Pittsburgh Coal Conference, which took place in October. The December regional report is on Botswana and Mozambique. Barry Baxter asks whether Botswana’s infrastructure will enable its coal industry to pick up speed while Andrew Woodley of Rio Tinto Mozambique looks at new coal mining developments in that country. This month’s industry view is from Elizabeth Stephens of JLT Specialty, and looks at risk management in mining.
