VIDEO: Testimonials from Coal Prep 2014 – Maureen Healey
At the 31st International Coal Preparation Conference & Expo, Penton Media’s Florence Torres interviewed the east region vice president of the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity (ACCCE), Maureen Healey, in one of a series of video testimonials from the show.
Speaking on the impact of the EPA regulations to the US coal industry, Healey suggested that they were likely to be “pervasive”, and that this was perhaps not fully understood by the general American public – who have not been given all the information they need to form fully rounded opinions.
Healey offered the following advice when asked what stakeholders can do to educate consumers: “In order to have a true impact on the EPA, you must get involved at the grassroots level. You must also get your businesses involved - so many people have taken a pass on this, while trying to understand how exactly how this will impact them. The stakeholder companies that have formed this partnership represent a full eighty percent of the US economy; virtually no industry or business will go unaffected. So I encourage everyone to get involved and please do get your businesses involved as well.”
