Russell Northe, Australian Minister for Energy and Resources, has officially opened the new Braeside headquarters of Victorian engineering fir, Kinder & Co.

“Kinder & Co is a family-owned engineering company that designs and supplies products and solutions for conveyor and bulk materials handling equipment.  It’s this equipment that moves things along to some of our most important industry sectors, such as iron ore, quarried products, grain, sugar, salt and coal at more than 1500 industry sites across Australia,” Northe said.

“In addition, 10% of the businesses annual turnover is generated by exporting its equipment to international clients.”

Kinder & Co’s new Braeside headquarters includes a design workshop, training room and a distribution centre where 21 staff are employed.

“These new purpose-built facilities will help Kinder & Co improve its research and development as well as its training activities, logistics and customer service to enable it to capitalise on the growing potential of Australia’s mining industry as it enters its maintenance phase,” Northe said.

“Kinder & Co expects to increase the number of people it employs in its business, and by growing its operations will also boost the number of people employed by its manufacturing subcontractors,” North continued. “The Institute of Quarrying Australia will also be using the company’s facilities for its training purposes, so Kinder & Co is making a wider contribution to the industries it supports too.”

Northe commended the commitment and success of Kinder & Co’s founders, Neil and Christine Kinder, who began the business from their family home in 1985.

“Kinder & Co is helping to build the productivity, competitiveness and capacity of other businesses and is creating jobs in Victoria as well as for its local and interstate manufacturing subcontractors,” he said.

“It demonstrates the enterprise of Victorian small to medium-sized enterprises, with a strong focus on improving its productivity, developing its skills base, and marketing itself to national and international clients,” Northe concluded.
