Global water technology company, Ecolab Inc., has bought the coal treatment business of AKJ Industries to expand its service offering to the global coal industry.
The acquisition includes the Florida-based company’s water treatment, car top dust control and freeze conditioning speciality chemical and service business. Revenues from the acquired business were about US$23 million in 2013.
“This acquisition provides a good complement to our current coal industry offerings and service footprint,” said Timothy Mulhere, Ecolab executive vice president and president, Global Water and Process Services, which operates under the Nalco name. “It enables us to offer more sustainable solutions to our mining industry customers globally and expands our service capabilities for customers in the faster growing Western US and Canada coal markets.”
