World Coal,
The federal government has granted the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act (EPBC) approval for New Hope Group’s revised New Acland Stage 3 Continuation Project (NAC03).
This announcement takes the project’s final approval one step closer. However, the project still requires State government approvals, including, Environmental Authority, Mining Lease, and Associated Water Licence to be granted before the New Hope Board can consider a final investment decision.
Following a recent hearing in the Queensland Land Court, it is now anticipated that recommendations to the State Minister for Natural Resource and Mines, the Hon. Anthony Lynham, on the company’s application for a Mining Lease and Environmental Authority for NAC03, could be expected around April 2017.
The revised New Acland project plan will extend the life of the current operation to about 2029.
