Edenville Energy plc, the company developing a coal project in southwest Tanzania, has reported that construction of the wash plant at the company’s Rukwa coal project site has now been completed.

The plant is currently undergoing final commissioning and testing, with the goal to be producing washed coal for sale next week.

In addition to the completion of the wash plant, the weighbridge has been installed and support services such as the laboratory, offices and stores are in final construction.

Following commissioning, the wash plant will process material to fulfil requests for coal that have already been made. Several major industrial users have also requested test shipments and we will be dispatching these over the coming weeks.

Rufus Short, Edenville CEO commented: “The construction team has worked hard in challenging conditions to get the wash plant operational and this has now been achieved. We are now ready to start producing washed coal immediately following final commissioning. The intention is to process several thousand tonnes of run of mine coal in October to produce a range of washed coal products for delivery to several end users.

“We look forward to providing further updates on the progress of the project in the coming weeks, including with regard to coal sales and contracts,” he continued.
