New refined coal facility leased
Clean Coal Solutions (CCS), a provider of technology to reduce NOx and mercury emissions from coal-fired power plants, has leased an additional refined coal (RC) facility to an existing RC investor for an upfront cost of US$6 million with subsequent payments of US$ 4 million per year operating expenses.
Separately, CCS has begun full-time operations of an additional RC facility at a coal-fired power plant that has historically burned approximately 3 million short tpa. The company will operate and retain the tax benefits generated by the facility until it is leased or sold to an RC investor.
Commenting on the deals, Dr Michael D. Durham, president and CEO of CCS parent company, Advanced Emissions Solutions, said: "We are pleased to have leased an additional RC facility and to have begun full-time operations on another facility”.
CCS also has an additional 6 RC facilities scheduled to begin operations in coming months, added Durham, with good progress being made of the remaining facilities.
