The seminar, themed "Green development led by technology", was jointly held by The People's Government of Lvliang City and China Economic Information Service (CEIS).
According to those who attended, the green transformation of the coal coking industry is a necessity under the backdrop of vigorously promoting ecological civil construction, which is also critical to the transformation, upgrading, and green development of China's energy industry.
Lvliang's Mayor, Wang Liwei, noted that Lvliang, the largest coke production base in Shanxi, currently has 45 million metric t of coking capacity with annual coke output of 20 million t. The city has been firmly fostering the green development of its coal coking industry in recent years.
Experts also pointed out that efforts should be made in such fields as technical and mechanism innovation, international cooperation, results sharing, diversified social governance system improvement and infrastructure construction, in a bid to realise green development and economic transformation.
16 projects with total investment of about 27.77 billion yuan were contracted during the seminar, covering areas of new materials, new energy, new coal chemical industry and trade, to name a few.
