The Dulanga coal mine, the maiden coal mine of NTPC in the State of Odisha, was dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 22 September 2018 in Jharsuguda, Odisha.
Situated in district Sundergarh (Odisha), the coal mine has been allotted by Government of India to meet the fuel requirement of NTPC’s two 800 MW Darlipali super thermal power plants. The Dulanga mine has block area of 6.54 km2, geological reserves of 196 million t and mineable reserves of 152 million t and ultimate production capacity of 7 million tpy.
The event was held in the presence of Prof. Ganeshi Lal, Governor, Odisha; Shri Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister, Odisha; Shri Suresh Prabhu, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation; Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship; Shri Jual Oram, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs and other dignitaries from Odisha. Shri Gurdeep Singh,CMD, NTPC, Shri P.K. Mahapatra- Director (Technical), NTPC, Shri M.P. Sinha- RED, ER-II were also present on the occasion.
In Odisha, NTPC currently has a 3000 MW Talcher super thermal power plant and a 460 MW Talcher thermal operating power plant in District Angul of Odisha. Furthermore, the 1600 MW Darlipali STPP is under construction and the 1320 MW (two 660 MW) Talcher thermal power project stage-III is also in the pipeline.
