Colombia coal output down 11.7% in 1Q18

Reuters is reporting that Colombia, the fifth-largest exporter of coal in the world, produced 19.6 million t of coal in 1Q18 – a decrease in output of 11.7% from the same period last year, when it produced 22.2 million t.
In 2017, the country produced 89.4 million t, marginally below 2016 output of 90.5 million t.
Leading companies in Colombia’s coal industry include Glencore, Anglo American PLC, Drummond Co, Cerrejon (owned by BHP Billiton) and Murray Energy Corp’s Colombia Natural Resources.
