Whitehaven Coal joins WCA
The World Coal Association (WCA) has announced that Whitehaven Coal is its newest member.
Whitehaven closely follows the addition of Queensland Resources Council in November last year and broadens WCA’s global network of major coal producers, national coal associations and other non-profit bodies with an interest in the future of the coal industry.

Milton Catelin, WCA CEO, commented: “Whitehaven is an important emerging player in the Australian coal industry. Australia is a leading coal producer and exporter and the addition of Whitehaven to WCA’s membership reflects the significance Australia’s coal industry has to the future of coal globally. Whitehaven have shown a commitment to sustainable development through working with local communities in developing coal projects and we look forward to drawing on their leadership and experience in this area.”
Whitehaven have recently commenced construction of the Maules Creek project, which is one of the largest coal deposits in Australia with 362 million t of recoverable reserves.
Clean coal
Paul Flynn, Whitehaven Coal CEO, commented: “Whitehaven is pleased to join the WCA. Our membership will assist us as we grow to become one of Australia’s most significant, modern and sustainably minded mining companies.
