East Mining Company has reported the successful implementation of a mobile dust controlling station at the Shakhtersk coal sea port in Russia.
The station was purchased by the company for RUB28 million and can process an area of 250 m2 in an hour. It works by spraying water at negative temperatures onto coal stacks, creating a crust of ice that prevents coal dust being formed by the impact of wind. Doing so also prevents oxygen entering the interior of coal stacks, thus reducing the risk of spontaneous combustion. Remote control of the station is possible.
The company has also announced that it intends to purchase a mobile vacuum station this year.
