Jameson Resources receives coal quality data

Jameson Resources Ltd has received coal quality data from the first phase of the exploration programme at the Dunlevy metallurgical coal project in northeast British Columbia, Canada.

The majority of drilling was conducted by rotary percussion (open hole), all of which intercepted portions of the coal bearing Gething Formation, with most finding multiple seams of varying thickness.

All completed open holes were geophysically logged, allowing Jameson to identify the coal bearing zones. Four holes were twinned to acquire core samples of the target seams for coal quality testing. A total of five core samples were collected: one was discarded for poor core recovery, the remaining four were subjected to a suite of coal quality tests.

Lab results indicate the Dunlevy coals exhibit relatively high recoveries on the +0.25 mm size fraction (ranging up to 81%) and produce ash contents considerably lower than are typically found in the market.

Although just a small portion of the Dunlevy project area has now been explored, the recent programme has verified the historical hand-trenching observations, confirmed multiple and continuous coal seams, confirmed the prevalence of simple structure, and provided an initial insight into coal washability and quality.

Jameson is reviewing short-term plans for Dunlevy in light of current market conditions, as the company continues to advance its flagship Crown Mountain metallurgical coal project.
