World Coal,
SUEK-Kuzbass’s Polysaeuskaya mine has commissioned a new, fully automated longwall, the first such system in Russia. The technology allows for unmanned coal mining due to a system designed by OJSC SUEK-Kuzbass, Marco, and Eickhoff.
Multiples sensors mounted on the shearer and special video cameras, including those capable of infrared filming, allow for an operator to monitor downhole equipment. In addition, a computer program is capable of full automation.
The expected monthly coal production is 300 000 t and total investment amounted to RUB1.6 million.
