Michael Cope has been named interim President of the Ohio Coal Association. Former President Christian Palich has been appointed to a position within the US Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C.

Mike Carey, Chairman of the Board of Director for the Ohio Coal Association, said: “We are very pleased and fortunate to have Mike Cope at the helm of the Ohio Coal Association.  Mike has a long history with coal, dating back to his days in Harrison County and his many roles in Ohio government. His experience and knowledge of politics and the legislative process are very important to our membership.”

“I am honoured and thrilled to be chosen to lead this great organisation,” Cope said. “With guidance from the Board of Directors, Associate members and Friends of Coal, I hope to be a successful advocate for Ohio’s most affordable and reliable source of energy, and articulate why coal based energy is important for resiliency and reliability of our nation’s electric grid."
