New board members at Contura Energy

Contura Energy Inc., a leading US coal supplier, has appointed Anthony Orlando and Michael Ward as new independent members of its Board of Directors.

With these appointments, Contura's board has expanded from four to six directors, effective 7 September 2017.

Orlando brings nearly three decades of experience in the energy industry, most recently serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of the global Energy-from-Waste company, Covanta Holding Corporation, from 2004 until 2015. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Landstar Systems Inc. and previously served on the board of Covanta Holding Corp.


Ward spent forty years serving in various executive positions with one of the nation's premier transportation and logistics companies, CSX Corp., and its predecessor company, Chessie System, Inc., most recently as Board Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from 2003 until 2017.  He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of both Ashland Global Holdings, Inc. and PNC Financial Services Group, Inc.
