SciDev deploys OptiFlox system to Bowen Basin coal producer

World Coal,

SciDev Ltd is pleased to advise that an OptiFlox® system has been deployed to a leading metallurgical coal producer in the northern Bowen Basin, Queensland. This deployment follows the securing of a six month commercial trial at the site as disclosed in the company and operational update released to ASX on 19 June 2018.

The OptiFlox technology will be trialled for a six month period, with installation planned for this month. The OptiFlox system will be trialled on a Phoenix Processing Equipment Co. (Phoenix) belt press filter in the coal handling preparation plant to increase productivity. The trial also aims to optimise the client’s consumables, reduce operational engagement and provide insights into process data. This initiative supports SciDev’s Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Phoenix in which the companies agreed to identify cases where the OptiFlox technology could be integrated into Phoenix’s equipment offering.

A successful trial may result in a long-term contract for the installation of an OptiFlox system, as well as opportunities for more deployments to the multiple Phoenix belt press filters at the trial site. In addition, management expects opportunities for chemical sales agreements to materialise should a system be installed on a longer-term basis.

SciDev is also confident that further commercial trials will be secured during the September quarter with another metallurgical coal producer in the Bowen Basin and a heavy mineral sands operation in south Australia.
