SUEK elects new Chairman of Board

The Siberian Coal Energy Company JSC (SUEK JSC) held its general annual shareholders meeting on 5 June 2020. During the course of the meeting, a new Board of Directors and a new chairman of the Board were elected as planned. Alexander Landia, who chaired the SUEK Board of Directors over the last years, was replaced by Samir Brikho.

“I am grateful to the shareholders of SUEK for their trust and the opportunity for many years to chair the Board of Directors of the company. I am proud of what we have done to develop the company as a recognised leader in the global energy and mining industries, successfully overcome difficult periods for the global economy and create a solid strategic base for further sustainable growth. The unique competencies and experience of Mr. Brikho at this stage of SUEK's development will strengthen the Board of Directors and will be especially useful for the future of the company,” Landia noted.

In turn, Brikho thanked Landia for his many years of great and successful work at the head of the Board of Directors. “The team of professionals of the highest level has done a great job. I will be delighted to invest all my experience and knowledge for the benefit of the company, keeping the course towards achieving the highest performance and strengthening the position of one of the most dynamically growing and promising companies in the world,” Brikho emphasised.

Samir Brikho graduated from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. He held CEO and senior management positions at a number of the world's largest companies. Currently, he is the Chairman of the Eurochem Group AG Board of Directors.
