SGS and Raven Ridge Resources in cooperation agreement
SGS and Raven Ridge Resources have announced a cooperation agreement, which will provide integrated coalbed methane (CBM) and coal mine methane (CMM) consultancy services.
SGS, specialist in coal and gas analysis, will provide global field and lab analysis services to customers. Meanwhile, Raven Ridge Resources, a provider of CBM and CMM consulting services, will supply technical expertise.
The combined SGS and Raven Ridge team will be able to measure and define potential methane production in coalbeds and surrounding strata. This includes the ability to:
- Delineate, map and quantify the gas resources and reserves associated with coal.
- Predict CBM and CMM production potential.
- Design CMM projects and assist in establishing greenhouse gas accounting measures, thereby qualifying for emission credits created from methane recovered, used/destroyed and therefore not liberated during the coal mining life cycle.
- Recommend best practices for CMM drainage in underground coal mines to promote safe and healthy working conditions.
The companies hope their collaboration will provide a combination of technical expertise and industry insight to various aspects of CBM and CMM work.
