Intra Energy Corp. Ltd has appointed James L. Shedd, Jr as its new CEO to be stationed in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
He will re-locate and commence work from early January.
Shedd will take over from current acting CEO, Mark McAndrew, who will return to being COO and Executive Director of IEC and will work closely with Jim Shedd in the development of coal mining activities in Tanzania.
Shedd has spent the last 20 years in the mining industry specialising in general mine, turnaround and productivity management. He has lived and worked in over 14 countries worldwide, including Tanzania, Indonesia and Australia. His last positions have been in Indonesia, Senegal and Western Australia as a performance improver in mines on behalf of McKinsey Consultants.
The company has welcomed this appointment at a time where there is a current rapid expansion of mining activities to meet substantially increased product demand, leading to new sales contracts, and the development of the Ngaka Power Station. Intra Energy is working closely with its strategic State partner, the National Development Corporation of Tanzania, and jointly with Sinohydro Corporation in the power station project. According to the company, Shedd brings to the Tanzanian team strong performance and efficiency coaching skills, which will further empower the Tanzanian management and workforce to make the Tancoal mining operations a real example of achievement by Tanzania.
