Matix invests further in CBM to Urea plant
Matix Fertlizers and Chemicals Ltd plans to invest another Rs5000 crore on its coalbed methane (CBM) to urea plant at Panagarh.
The project is moving ahead and making steady progress, according to Matix.
Matix Managing Director, P R Dhariwal, said "The first phase of company's greenfield fertiliser complex at Panagarh (West Bengal) is ready to be commissioned. The capacity of plant is 1.3 million tonnes per annum, and about Rs 6,000 crore has been invested on it,"
However, concerns have been raised over the availability of CBM gas to feed the fretiliser plant.
Matix hopes to source CBM from Essar Oil’s Raniganj block. To do this, a 30 km pipeline has already been built to transport gas to the urea plant.
Further development of the CBM – urea project will “require investment of about Rs5000 crore” Dhariwal said.
