Improvements to PortaMetrics™

World Coal,
PortaMetrics™ is a portable, image-based fragmentation solution. Integrating three high-resolution cameras into a rugged industrial package allows operators to capture, process and manually edit images in any environment. A key advantage of PortaMetrics ™ is its ability to use these cameras to determine the distance to any point in the image. In doing so, the need for a scalable item, such as a basketball, is eliminated.
Since the launch of PortaMetrics™, feedback from mines, quarries and blasting companies worldwide – including EPC UK, RockBlast and Hanka - has been overwhelmingly positive for the company. Safety concerns regarding climbing the rock face to place scalable objects have been eliminated.
Recent additions to the device allow for improved navigation and detailed manual correcting. For example, if the image overfragments a large rock, the user can edit the rock size using the touch screen capabilities. In doing so, the user has greater control over the accuracy of their rock fragmentation analysis.
With these improvements implemented, PortaMetrics is the first complete, portable solution offering instantaneous rock fragmentation and slope sensing results.
