Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Ltd (MHPS), jointly with engineering and construction company, Daelim Industrial Co. Ltd of Korea, has received an order for a boiler to be installed at the Shinseocheon 1000 MW thermal coal-fired ultra-supercritical pressure power plant in South Korea.

This plant is to be newly constructed by Korea Midland Power Co., Ltd. (KOMIPO, a power generation company of Korea Electric Power Corp.) and is expected to commence operation in September 2019. KOMIPO is Korea's national electric power supplier.

It is indicated that the boiler will be a core component of the large-scale high-efficiency power generation plant.

The Shinseocheon thermal power plant is being built in line with Korea's 6th Basic Power Supply & Demand Plan (2013 – 2027). It will be built at a site approximately 200 km south of Seoul, in the Seocheon County of South Chungcheong Province. Once completed, the power plant will supply power to meet the energy demand in the area.

MHPS has indicated it will continue to apply its high-efficiency technologies and undertake aggressive marketing in a broad range of countries and regions where demand for coal-fired power generation systems is expected to increase, stabilising power supplies and reducing environmental burdens.
